National Apprenticeship Week

It was National Apprenticeship week February 7th-11th and Darton Academy were able to assist students with regards to any interest they may have had in becoming an apprentice when they left school. Gavin Day from Premdor/ Masonite delivered an on-line assembly to year 10 via teams to talk about the requirements an employer looks for when appointing and searching for an apprentice. In year 11 some of the students, who have expressed an interest in becoming an apprentice, were given information that had been passed on to school with regards to local apprenticeships, for example,  Burrows Toyota, who this week were looking for apprenticeships in auto engineering, in their search for a star quest. An external provider also came into school to set up a stand in the Atrium on Friday lunchtime in the shape of Burneslai Homes and interest in this from all year groups was good. A rolling display was also set up in the atrium telling the students about apprenticeships and relating any relevant information. Support was also shared on the Careers Portal for this week for sessions that were running on-line in the evenings. These were Hosted by All About School Leavers and Festival of Apprenticeships with talks from BT, AstraZeneca, NHS, Police, JP Morgan.
