Photography

KS4

At the end of KS3 pupils can choose to take Art and Design at GCSE level. Art is a very popular choice for many, and they pursue the AQA qualification with the Photography endorsement.

This GCSE allows for progression from Key Stage 3 and provides students with the freedom to learn GCSE Photography in ways that inspire and bring out the best in them, whilst equipping them with the skills to continue the subject with confidence at AS, A-level and beyond.

To support this progression, the assessment objectives, structure and titles are very similar to those detailed in the AS and A-level Art and Design specification.

Portfolio projects, assignments or briefs can be open-ended or more narrowly focused. There is no restriction on the choice of media, scale or format that students use to reflect and evidence their submissions.

GCSE Art & Design Photography provides our pupils with a range of different ways to express their individual creativity. It also aims to enable pupils to develop a natural sense of wonder and curiosity about the world they see around them. Through studying a diverse range of artists throughout history pupils will develop their critical thinking and cultural appreciation.

This GCSE is made up of 60% coursework and 40% exam.
