Wellbeing
Your wellbeing is important…
It is more important than ever that we look after our own wellbeing. One quote that really resonates and provides strength comes from Seamus Heaney;
“If we winter this one out, we can summer anywhere”
Here are five steps to ensuring good mental wellbeing:
- Keep Learning – keep yourself and your brain challenged. Learning new things can really help
improve your wellbeing and sense of self-esteem, so important for mental health. - Be Active – physical exercise is great for your physical health but also does wonders for your
mental health - Give to others – be kind and try to understand how others may also be feeling. Research into actions for
promoting happiness has shown that committing an act of kindness once a week over a six-week period
is associated with an increase in wellbeing. - Connect – There is strong evidence that indicates that feeling close to, and valued by, other people is
a fundamental human need and one that contributes to functioning well in the world. - Take notice – take some time to enjoy the moment and the environment around you. This may involve
de-cluttering your workspace or taking notice of how your colleagues may be feeling.
Below is short video with some advice from Parents for Teens on how we can support your child’s wellbeing over the Summer holidays.
