On Monday 22nd November 45 students form Darton Academy took part in a campus visit to Sheffield University in order to provide them with an introduction to Higher Education. On arrival the learners were given a talk and presentation about the requirements of entry in order to get into University and an analysis of the variety of courses that were available to them. This was then followed by a Campus Tour with Student Ambassadors. This enabled the Darton Academy students to have an in-depth tour of the University and introduced them to the various resources and facilities that were available to them when they accessed Higher Education.

Lunch was then his was taken in the University building, and this gave them a flavour and insight into this aspect of University life. In the afternoon, a talk was given on student life followed by a Q & A session with the student ambassadors. The students were able to question the students’ ambassadors about their lives, courses and thoughts and feelings about attending University and this gave the students a more personal view from those people who were already in Higher Education.
