Health and Social Care

What does it mean to be healthy? This is a question that often gets asked and studying Health and Social Care. Our aim is to ensure pupils understand what is meant by holistic health, not just the absence of a physical illness.

Throughout this course they will look at physical, intellectual, emotional and social development; these elements will underpin everything they will study. From looking at factors that affect development throughout their life, to learning about services that are available to help with health and wellbeing.

Health and Social Care will provide pupils with invaluable knowledge and guidance that they can follow throughout their life. They will have experience of measuring and interpreting health indicators and producing a plan to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals including themselves.

Students study three components –

1. Human Lifespan

2. Health and social care services and values

3. Health and wellbeing which is an external exam.
