GCSE Results 2019

Students, staff and parents of Darton Academy are celebrating today after receiving a fantastic set of GCSE results that will see the school as one of the most improved in the whole country.

We are delighted to report that Darton Academy Year 11 students achieved the best ever GCSE results. On average students at Darton Academy achieved half a grade higher than expected across all of their subjects.

Darton Academy now has 73% of students gaining a grade 4 in Maths and English and 55% achieving a grade 5 strong pass or above in both subjects. However, these headlines do not highlight the most important aspect of the results; the progress students make from their starting points. Progress scores that will be released later in the year will show that the Academy is now one of the top performing in the local area with a massive improvement from previous years.

Principal Elaine Briggs said “I am absolutely delighted with these results which reflect the hard work put in by both students and staff.  They are an indication of the strong teaching and individual support we provide for our students”.

Executive Principal Andy Barnett said “These results are excellent across all subjects and reflect the high performance of Darton Academy since becoming part of Delta Academies Trust.   Congratulations and well done to all our Year 11 students. We are extremely proud of all our students and their success is very well deserved. I would also like to thank the support and partnership we have had from our amazing parents. We are also very grateful for the support from the Academy Advisory Body, local authority and the wider community and look forward to the continuing success of the School in future years.”

AAB chair Steve Wragg said “Congratulations to all those students who have achieved excellent results this year. I’m absolutely delighted to see the improvement in our results after our first full year with Delta Academy Trust. The results prove that hard work pays off from both the staff and the learners and we look forward to continuing to deliver great results in the coming years”.
