This week we have been visited by Emma Shepherd, a reporter from the Barnsley Chronicle. We shared our core values with her and in particular our commitment to the promotion of environmental awareness and protection locally, nationally and globally.
In practice, we are dedicated to being single use, plastic free in our academy and are pleased with the steps that we are taking to be part of global sustainability efforts. As part of this, we have given a reusable bottle to every student and member of staff, in response to the quantities of single use plastic bottles for drinks being seen in the academy on a daily basis.
We are educating our students to think about what small steps and changes they can make in their own lives to impact our environment positively. The approach has been well received in our academy community and everybody is involved in efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle. We look forward to seeing our students featured in their local newspaper.
