This week at Darton, the English department arranged for a theatre company to come and perform a live version of A Christmas Carol to give Year 11 learners the opportunity to see the novella brought to life. The adaptation brought Dickens’ atmospheric ghost story of Christmas to life through the company’s enthusiastic mix of direct quotations, fun and lively action, music and audience participation. The actors brought to life the character of Scrooge and his squeezing, wrenching, grasping, attitude to life perfectly. Year 11 learners joined him on the journey that he was forced to make through his past, present and future until laughter and goodness replaced the ice in his heart. A memorable morning had by all!
